Who We Are
The name Studio 51 is distinctly D.C., a nod to the District’s pursuit of statehood, with a wink to the legendary Studio 54. While our name is rooted in the District, becoming a neighborhood studio matters to us. We want this place to be more than a place to make pottery. When our doors open, we want Studio 51 to feel like a place you can exhale and unwind — whether you’ve always dreamed of throwing your first pot, you’re simply claycurious, or you’ve been making ceramics for years. Everyone has a place at the wheel or handbuilding table.
We’re still in the early days of building out the studio, gathering kilns, wheels, tools, tables, shelves, glazes, clay — all the things that make a pottery space feel like home. It’s a process, and we’re grateful for your patience while we get everything just right. As opening day gets closer, we’ll start signups, and you’ll be among the very first to hear about it. We can’t wait to welcome you in.
We're not open yet, but we're getting close.
